The Best Time to Start English Immersion Is Now

How we learn at BISC Wroclaw

Give your child a confident start in an English-speaking school environment — with caring teachers, small classes, and
a structured international curriculum from the very beginning.

At BISC Wrocław, children in Year 1 learn naturally through daily communication, play, routines, stories, projects, and guided classroom activities. They do not need to speak perfect English before they start. What matters most is curiosity, openness, and the right support.

Why Start in Year 1?

Starting English immersion early helps children build language confidence naturally. At this age, children absorb new words, sounds, routines, and classroom language through experience — not memorisation.

In Year 1, English becomes part of everyday school life: greeting friends, asking questions, listening to stories, solving tasks, singing songs, working in groups, and speaking with teachers. This creates a strong foundation for future learning across all subjects.

Natural language acquisition

Children learn English through meaningful daily use, not isolated vocabulary lists.

Confidence
in communication

They gradually become comfortable speaking, asking, answering, and expressing their ideas.

A smoother school transition

A caring classroom routine helps children feel safe, settled, and ready to learn.

Long-term academic progress

Early exposure to English supports reading, writing, subject learning, and international education pathways.

Social Skills in an International Environment

Children learn to cooperate, share ideas, and build friendships in a multicultural classroom.

Curiosity and Independent Learning

Young learners are encouraged to ask questions, explore new topics, and develop a positive attitude towards school.

“What if my child does not speak English yet?”

This is one of the most common questions parents ask — and it is completely natural.

Children entering Year 1 do not need to be fluent in English. Our teachers support language development step by step through visual materials, gestures, repetition, classroom routines, songs, stories, and individual guidance.

The goal is not to put pressure on children. The goal is to help them feel safe enough to listen, try, speak, make mistakes, and grow.

A Caring Start to School Life

Year 1 is not only about learning English. It is also about helping children feel secure, understood, and ready for school. Our teachers create a warm classroom environment where children can build friendships, follow routines, and develop independence.

English Through Real Experiences

Children learn English while doing things that make sense to them: listening to stories, drawing, counting, exploring, asking questions, playing, and working with classmates. Language becomes practical, meaningful, and natural.

A Strong Foundation for the Future

Early immersion helps children build the confidence and skills they need for the next stages of education. At BISC Wrocław, children follow an international learning path that supports both academic development and personal growth.

An International Education Path from the Start

BISC Wrocław offers an international education pathway based on the British approach to learning, with English as the language of instruction. Starting in Year 1 allows children to enter this system early and grow within it step by step.

As they progress, students build the academic and language skills needed for the next stages of school, including internationally recognised qualifications in later years.

One school. One language environment. One clear path forward.

Trusted by International and Local Families

BISC has been an incredible experience for our family. My son attends with genuine enthusiasm, his English has improved noticeably, and he’s grown across all subjects.

What stands out most is how respectfully and warmly the teachers treat their students – he comes home excited to talk about his lessons. The atmosphere here is truly special. Highly recommend!”

“My son studies in BISC. It is a very good school. There are a lot of things that I would like to say about this school but the most important criterion for evaluating our school is that my son is happy to go to school every morning. All this is thanks to the atmosphere that reigns at BISC. This criterion is very important when you are just beginning your educational journey. Thank you so much all BISC team for everything.”

“Great school with the child’s wellbeing and continued development at its core. Teachers are professional but also human, meaning children are comfortable approaching them for help, guidance and advice. Family values are key and children are made to feel welcome. Couldn’t recommend the school more highly.”

Meet the Head of School

Welcome to the BISC Wroclaw!

Hello and Welcome to the BISC Wroclaw! My name is Phil Hart, and I am the Head of the British International School of Wroclaw. With over 20 years of experience in education, and teaching and leadership roles across four continents, I bring a global perspective and passion for fostering excellence in international schools. My extensive work with a wide variety of international curricula and innovative approaches to teaching and learning ensures that we implement best practices here at BISC Wroclaw.

Our school is unified in its commitment to holistic education, where each child’s individual potential is nurtured. I firmly believe that it is our responsibility as educators to provide a rich, supportive environment where students can flourish both academically and personally – by pursuing interests in sport, music, drama, art and more. Our aim is to inspire students to become confident, lifelong learners, and compassionate global citizens, ready to take on the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

I can say with confidence that a BISC Wroclaw education is both rewarding and enriching.

BISC is renowned for producing the highest number of graduates and securing the most prestigious university acceptances among all international schools offering the Cambridge International Curriculum and British education in Wroclaw.

Our spacious, green, and leafy outdoor environment provides the perfect setting for a truly holistic school experience, offering opportunities for sports, games, and a variety of extracurricular enrichment programs. This peaceful and relaxing green space allows our students to be mindful, take a break from their screens, and unwind from the intensity of daily life.

My vision for BISC Wroclaw is to build upon the tradition of excellence and achievement that has been the hallmark of our community since the school first opened its doors in 2006. Students at BISC Wroclaw enjoy a holistic and enriching education within a positive, inclusive school culture. Our personalised approach, characterised by small class sizes and a strong sense of community, remains at the core of our school ethos.

From my own experience as a parent, I appreciate how vital open communication and cooperation between school and home are for student achievement. As such, I encourage parents and guardians to actively engage in their child’s education and participate in our vibrant school community. Throughout the academic year, BISC parents receive regular updates on events, achievements, and extracurricular activities through in-person meetings, newsletters, emails, our school website, and social media platforms. Parental involvement is a key ingredient in the success of our students, and as a school, we actively encourage families to attend school activities and functions.

When asked what I love most about our school, my answer is always the same – I love the warm, welcoming BISC Wroclaw community. This sense of belonging has always been central to the unique experience our students and their families enjoy.
