Secondary SchoolKey Stage 3Our learning areas are designed to inspire your child and encourage self-confidence through active participation within group and individual settings. Our curriculum ensures your child will be provided with ample opportunities to learn essential content and to make connections across subjects. We regularly take trips off site to maximize our pupil’s use of the services and opportunities available within the local community. For pupils with limited English speaking skills, our EAL programme is tailored to your child’s specific needs to ensure learning objectives are reached within the curriculum. Rigorous assessment systems, small class sizes and excellent home-to-school communication all help to contribute to the success of pupils in Key Stage 3.
Key Stage 4 (IGCSE)Students follow a two-year externally examined curriculum that offers a strong foundation for learning that enables students to make informed decisions about careers, pre-university and university courses. Rigorous standards are in place for each programme of study in order to maximise results on the IGCSE exams. Students will demonstrate their knowledge throughout the two-year course through written, verbal, and digital formats to ensure the level of comprehension that is expected is reached. Our dedicated teaching staff monitor each student’s progress and helps each student develop critical thinking and independent study skills. These required skills support their learning across all other subject areas and encourages further development in the skills needed in their Sixth Form courses of study.Key Stage 5 (AS and A2 Level)Students follow the syllabus for the AS or A2 curriculum areas which will prepare them for university study. The in-depth subject content encourages independent thinking, logically presented arguments, and to apply knowledge and understanding to new situations. Our dedicated teaching staff monitors each student’s progress and supports their learning through varied instructional techniques aimed at maximising results on the external exams.
